‘But now be strong, Zerubbabel, ‘declares the LORD. ‘Be strong, Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land’, declares the LORD, ‘and work. For I am with you,’ declares the LORD Almighty. (Haggai 2 : 4)
Today’s sermon was about loving our church and offering church construction. Pastor said us what the LORD really wants to receive from us. That is not just for our money, and not just for our faith, but for our love and obey.
In the bible, when word of the LORD came to Haggai, people were asked to build the new LORD’s temple. Although, it was worse than former one, the LORD declared that he would be with people and his spirit remained among them. He also said in the line 9, ‘The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house’.
For me, the most impressive part of the today’s words is that the LORD didn’t care about how big and fancy is the new his temple. He only wanted to stay with his people and encouraged to them.
Sometimes, I complained ‘why I can’t do better than others?’ ‘Why my environment is hard?’ ‘If I have more talent or money, I can do a lot for the LORD more than now’. However, I realized again that God only wants to stay with me whether my offering is big or small, whether I’m devoted to him a lot or not.
During the sermon, I felt how my church is graceful, thankful and precious for me. Our church still has pretty much debt though, I believe that all things are the LORD’s plans and we can just obey his way. As I did last year, I will do my construction offering with my pleasure, and never fear what I eat and what I wear.
Thanks God and I always praise you!
